Dr. Lara Devgan recently sat down with Refinery29 to discuss her plastic surgery practice, the stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery, and one of her signature procedures: the suspension suture lift. Dr. Devgan has successfully performed this trademark procedure thousands of times; below you can view the stunning results on a real patient of Dr. Devgan’s!

Dr. Devgan specializes in plastic surgery and injectables on the face, breasts and body but, “The focus of my practice is facial micro-optimization, which is really this combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures that make you look and feel like the best version of yourself by making tiny, millimeter-level changes all over the face.”

One of her signature procedures, the suspension suture lift, has contributed greatly to distinguishing Dr. Devgan as a top surgeon in her field. The procedure involves custom-molded sutures that re-suspend the facial tissue to refine and shape the arch, symmetry, and height of the brows, cheeks, and jawline.

“In what I do, I really try to treat my work as an n=1 experience,” Dr. Devgan states. She splits her time nearly 50/50 between surgical procedures and injectables in order to achieve her stunning yet subtle results in each and every one of her patients. Even before achieving her patients’ desired aesthetic outcome, safety is Dr. Devgan’s number one priority. As Dr. Devgan puts it herself, “If I cannot perform the procedure safely on myself or my family, then I won’t perform it on any one of my patients.”

Dr. Devgan concluded the interview by sharing her thoughts on the stigmatization of plastic and cosmetic surgery in the U.S. and around the world: “I think there’s a huge stigma around the concept of cosmetic plastic surgery… I think there’s this bias that we feel like everybody has to be more beautiful unless they’re trying too hard.”

Please consult your physician before undergoing any elective procedures, and don’t forget that beauty is in the details.”
