Actual patient of Dr. Devgan, before and after labiaplasty
There are a variety of reasons why women seek labiaplasty-- both functional and aesthetic. In the past few months I have had patients report the following concerns as reasons for seeking labiaplasty:
- self-consciousness when nude
- discomfort during exercise
- awkwardness during sexual relations
- discomfort during sexual intercourse
- rashes
- chafing and bleeding
- hygiene concerns
- difficulty controlling the flow of urine when using the bathroom
- toilet paper or tissue adhering to the genitalia
- frequent need for readjustment
- limitation of bicycling
- self-consciousness when wearing swimsuits
- discomfort with appearance when wearing fitted pants, yoga pants, leggings, or exercise pants
- itchiness of tissue
- dryness of tissue
- undesirable aesthetic appearance
- dislike of darkly pigmented areas of tissue
- dislike of skin tags or other benign growths
- aesthetic dislike of protruding labia minora
- aesthetic dislike of deflated or saggy labia majora
- aesthetic dislike of enlarged clitoral hood
- aesthetic dislike of redundant or enlarged perineum, frequently after childbirth or intercourse-related injuries
Many women have a combination of functional and aesthetic concerns. Each person is different, each set of anatomic characteristics is different, and each surgery is uniquely tailored. If you are considering labiaplasty and would like to be evaluated by me for treatment, please call my office at 212-452-2400 or email office@LaraDevganMD.com.
