Dr. Lara Devgan was featured in MarketWatch, a top business-focused news-site owned by Dow Jones.
Dr. Devgan commented on how people are seeking changes to very small perceived flaws based on beauty ideals that social media is creating, in particular via to the use of filters and photo adjustments.
“I’ve noticed an uptick in people looking for what I like to call micro-optimization — tiny, millimeter-level changes that together make the face look better,” she said. Examples include requests for slightly fuller lips or narrower noses. “This is the principle behind Snapchat filters, and it has become the new norm with aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery.
Dr. Devgan is a top New York City plastic surgeon, and was recently was appointed Chief Medical Officer of RealSelf, a leading information site for cosmetic surgery.
