Blepharoplasty (eyelid rejuvenation for tired-looking eyes) is one of my favorite, signature operations. Pictured is an actual patient of mine immediately after (left) and 6 days after (right) a lower eyelid lift. This surgery removes puffy bags and excess skin under the eyes, giving the face a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.
Many patients ask me what to expect in terms of their recovery. Immediately after surgery (left) you will have stitches under your eyes (or in some cases hidden inside the pink part of your eyes). It is normal to have bruising and swelling, which peak around 2-3 days after surgery. By one week, you will look very good, although the scar is still immature, as you can see in this photo (right). By 2 weeks, the scar is almost gone, and after a month or more, the scar is almost invisible.
If you are thinking about eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, I encourage you to learn more by coming to my New York City office for a consultation. We will discuss your medical and surgical history, perform a full examination of your eyes, make all necessary measurements, take photographs, and plan an operation that is customized to your exact desires and expectations. For me, this means a natural-looking procedure without obvious signs of surgery, an operation that retains the natural character and shape of your eyes, and a result that makes you look like the best version of yourself, not like someone else.
