Many patients like the overall size and shape of their noses, but desire some additional subtle refinement of the nasal tip.
The tip of the nose is an aesthetically important anatomic area for several reasons:
- It has more topographical prominence than any other part of the nose (i.e. it sticks out the most)
- It reflects light in a visually arresting manner
- It can create an impression of refinement when well-proportioned or coarseness when not
If the tip of the nose is boxy, bulbous, or overly large, a tip rhinoplasty can be an effective operation to subtly improve the proportions of the face. Using hidden incisions, I am able to make the nose appear more harmonious and attractive, without making you look like a completely different person.
Most patients take 1 week off of work or school to recover. Results are immediately apparent, but they take up to one year to fully materialize, as the nose can retain a tiny bit of swelling and fluid over a prolonged period of time. Bruising is not common after tip rhinoplasty, but any small bruises or areas of discoloration can be covered by makeup after 2-3 days.
