LIP LIFT

A lip lift shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip and can increase upper-tooth and vermilion show. It may be considered when facial aging has lengthened the cutaneous upper lip or when the upper lip appears proportionally long.

A subnasal lip lift generally places an incision at the base of the nose. Carefully planned scar placement and conservative tissue removal are essential. A lip lift changes vertical proportions, while lip filler or fat grafting primarily changes volume. These procedures are not interchangeable.

When appropriately selected, a lip lift can refine the lower central face and improve balance among the nose, lips, teeth, and chin.
