Anytime you get a cut (whether from an accident or a surgery), there is always going to be a scar. My job as a plastic surgeon is to minimize the appearance of that scar and use the best surgical techniques to camouflage and hide that scar so that it does not detract from your overall appearance.

Frequently, patients will call me when they have had an accident and have a cut, burn, laceration, or open wound that requires stitches, in order to have me help them achieve the best cosmetic outcome. I will either meet the patient in the Emergency Room or in my office to help treat them in a fast, safe, efficient, and cosmetically beautiful manner.

Two of my recent patients are pictured above. The top image is a Vogue covermodel, before and immediately after laceration repair. The bottom image is a male patient visiting from overseas, before and immediately after laceration repair. Even in the early stages of their stitches, both of them demonstrate the qualities of a good wound closure:

  • correctly reapproximated anatomic borders
  • thin, finely spaced sutures
  • respect of tissues and gentle tissue handling
  • excellent cosmesis

If you have an injury and are interested in getting the best cosmetic result, please don't hesitate to contact my office at any time, even at night or on the weekends. I will always make every effort to take care of you.

There are a variety of reasons why women seek labiaplasty-- both functional and aesthetic. In the past few months I have had patients report the following concerns as reasons for seeking labiaplasty:

  • self-consciousness when nude
  • discomfort during exercise
  • awkwardness during sexual relations
  • discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • rashes
  • chafing and bleeding
  • hygiene concerns
  • difficulty controlling the flow of urine when using the bathroom
  • toilet paper or tissue adhering to the genitalia
  • frequent need for readjustment
  • limitation of bicycling
  • self-consciousness when wearing swimsuits
  • discomfort with appearance when wearing fitted pants, yoga pants, leggings, or exercise pants
  • itchiness of tissue
  • dryness of tissue
  • undesirable aesthetic appearance
  • dislike of darkly pigmented areas of tissue
  • dislike of skin tags or other benign growths
  • aesthetic dislike of protruding labia minora
  • aesthetic dislike of deflated or saggy labia majora
  • aesthetic dislike of enlarged clitoral hood
  • aesthetic dislike of redundant or enlarged perineum, frequently after childbirth or intercourse-related injuries

Many women have a combination of functional and aesthetic concerns. Each person is different, each set of anatomic characteristics is different, and each surgery is uniquely tailored. If you are considering labiaplasty and would like to be evaluated by me for treatment, please call my office at 212-452-2400 or email office@LaraDevganMD.com.

Kim Kardashian Fashion Week Facial: Microneedling by Dr. Devgan

Kim Kardashian's Fashion Week Microneedling Facial with Dr. Devgan

Kim Kardashian's Fashion Week Microneedling Facial with Dr. Devgan

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of helping Kim Kardashian get her skin in tip-top shape for New York and Paris Fashion Week, with a Microneedling Collagen Induction Treatment (also known as a "Vampire Facial," or a "Fashion Week Facial," as Kim calls it).

Microneedling is an amazing way to induce the skin to produce more collagen, leaving it glowy, supple, even, and soft. In my practice, I combine Microneedling with Growth Factors, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, stem cell induction, and PRP treatment-- for maximal beauty benefits. For Kim, we also used an amazing Collagen-Infused Gold Face Treatment Mask to deliver Hyaluronic serum in a targeted fashion.

Shortly after our Microneedling Treatment and skin care regimen, Kim Kardashian attended the Balmain fashion show at Paris Fashion Week completely makeup free. Click to zoom in on her incredible skin quality.

Last but not least, we started Kim on my entire skin care line: Platinum Triple Glow, Platinum Vitamin C+ Luminous Night Serum, Platinum Hyaluronic Serum, Platinum Recovery Cream, Platinum SPF 45 Daily Tinted BB Cream, Platinum Revitalizing Cleanser, and Platinum Microdermabrasion Scrub. This left her skin glowy and perfect enough to attend the Balmain fashion show at Paris Fashion Week completely makeup-free.

Correction of Dark Circles (tear trough filler)

The skin around the eyes is the thinnest and most delicate on the body. For this reason, it is the place where many people are likely to show signs of aging and fatigue. Even in young patients, as in this twentysomething patient of mine pictured above, dark circles can contribute significantly to a tired appearance of the face.

One quick and easy intervention to treat dark circles and hollowing around the eyes is Injectable Tear Trough Filler. In a 10 minute procedure with minimal discomfort and no downtime, the under-eye area can be rejuvenated for 1-2 years. This is an excellent option for you if you would like a cosmetic correction without undergoing surgery (like blepharoplasty/ eye lift, or fat grafting).

Tear trough filler is an expert injector technique that can cause skin necrosis, tissue damage, and permanent blindness if done improperly. I advise my patients to find a board-certified plastic surgeon and expert in periorbital anatomy with extensive experience in this nuanced procedure. To see more examples of my work, look at the "Eyes" section under the Before & After tab.

The nose is the center-most point of the face, and injuries to the nose can alter one's entire perception of facial balance and attractiveness. If you have a broken nose, with or without an overlying soft tissue injury, careful anatomic alignment of the nasal bones, septum, paired upper lateral and lower lateral cartilages, and skin envelope are critically important.

When I am addressing a traumatic nasal injury, I use the same type of anatomic analysis and meticulous surgical technique that I use when I am performing a cosmetic rhinoplasty or nosejob. While reconstructive nasal surgery is about returning a person to their baseline and cosmetic nasal surgery is about improving their appearance, both types of operations hinge on good surgical technique and sound planning.

If you have a nasal concern-- whether it is a broken bone, a soft tissue trauma, or an aesthetic complaint-- please feel free to contact my office at 212-452-2400 or office@LaraDevganMD.com.
