Yahoo! Finance consults Dr. Devgan for tips on finding the right doctor

As the interest for cosmetic procedures continues to climb, it is important that those interested stay informed and knowledgable. Yahoo! Finance utilizes Dr. Devgan’s expertise and knowledge in the industry in order to help people understand the situation at hand. A new RealSelf survey conducted online by The Harris Poll reveals “59 percent of women in the U.S. do not know there is a difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon.” This creates an issue because it enables people to receive treatments from people who are not necessarily the most qualified.

Plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons differ in that in order to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, surgeons must have at least six years of residency training. On the other hand, certification from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery only requires one year. Dr. Devgan stresses that as nonsurgical treatments become more accessible, "patients must understand that it’s crucial to use RealSelf to fact-check a doctor’s credentials before booking a treatment.”

If you are thinking about getting a treatment done, make sure you utilize everything in order to make sure the doctor is suitable. Medical professionals “do not have to be board certified in plastic surgery to perform surgical cosmetic procedures such as rhinoplasty or breast augmentation,” so it is important to use tools, like RealSelf, to make sure that you see a doctor that is satisfactory. Harper’s Bazaar interviews Dr. Devgan about all things fillers

In this September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Dr. Devgan gives her medical and artistic expertise on fillers. Many people have a preconception about fillers and Dr. Devgan is here to explain how they have evolved from something frowned upon to a revolutionary superhero when it comes to smoothening and plumping the skin.

Dr. Devgan explains how she uses enhanced fillers with special attributes and anatomic considerations in order to achieve a more natural-looking result. For building a better bone structure, Dr. Devgan will use Radiesse, “a structural, calcium-based filler.” This is for patients who want to see definition in their cheekbones, jaw line, or chin.  For the patient who wants a perkier derrière or rounded hips, Dr. Devgan uses Sculptra to “create a smoother and softer result.” These advances in fillers allow patients to have results that will last longer with indefinite collagen.

Dr. Devgan reminds readers that the collagen induction takes months and that results are not instantaneous. That being said, it is important that the right about of filler is added so that an overly puffy look is not achieved. If you are not loving your filler or want to achieve a different look, requesting a consultation is recommended. Dr. Devgan believes filler is something that needs to be done by someone with anatomic expertise and significant experience in order to be satisfied. Read the excerpt below to learn more.

Vogue magazine interviews Dr. Devgan about LED therapy

Vogue Magazine highlights Dr. Devgan in August’s beauty issue regarding her expertise in LED therapy and whether it is worth your time. Many people struggle with controlling acne and this article features Dr. Devgan’s approach and what she believes is the best treatment.

The article describes how LED skincare therapy stimulates collagen production, kills bacteria, and smooths skin. Dr. Devgan goes in-depth by sharing how “the basic idea is that targeted photo energy can cause skin remodeling, controlled depth injuries and healing responses, and killing of P acnes, the bacteria that causes acne.”

Dr. Devgan assures her patients that “LED is extremely low energy and thus very safe.” She recommends this treatment be done in conjunction with invasive treatments, like her micro-needling, in order to help calm the skin down. The available LED products for at-home use are not as strong and will require being extra careful, but will still do the same trick. For more information, read the article here.

Dr. Devgan featured in NewBeauty highlighting The BIG Injectable Debate

The industry today has been changing the way people think and feel about fillers. NewBeauty’s Fall Issue highlights Dr. Devgan and her medical expertise on whether or not it is safe and smart to receive fillers from specialists whom are not one of the “core four.” The “core four” being board-certified dermatologists, plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, and oculoplastic surgeons.

This article goes in depth surrounding how even though all of these pop-up filler bars appear to be conventional, they are not smart for the long-run. Dr. Devgan explains how the confusions comes from “many injectors’ Instagram feeds looping reels of seemingly effortless filler transformations,” which creates an illusion that the treatment is much simpler than it really is. When done correctly in an appropriate setting, fillers will add subtle volume to the face and can be used to fill deep wrinkles.

If you have any concerns with your skin and are interested in getting fillers, seeking an appointment from a licensed healthcare professional would be extremely beneficial. Seeking a personal consultation will allow for you to receive the right treatments for your complexion. You can read more about the debate here.

Lip Lifts on the Rise: Dr. Devgan Featured in Harper's Bazaar

Lip injections are the perfect option for adding volume and creating shape to the lips. But what if you want something that lasts more than 6-8 months? As silicone implants are (thankfully) outdated, there is a lesser-known procedure that outlasts lip injections-- a lip lift. Dr. Devgan is featured on Harper’s Bazaar’s recent article on the rising lip lift.

Dr. Devgan commonly performs lip lifts, which is a surgical procedure that lifts the lip by making a small incision under the nose “to increase the amount of pink lip you see, helping lips look youthful and full.” This procedure is perfect for both younger patients and older patients for different reasons. Dr. Devgan usually sees younger patients for lip lifts “Who are tired of the endless treadmill of lip filler,” and for older patients who are “Frustrated with the elongation of this area of the mouth that used to be a little more proportionate.”

If you are looking for a more permanent solution to lip fillers, and can have down time for about a week until the stitches come out, then a lip lift could be the surgery for you. Read the full article here

Dr. Devgan's Take on Achieving the Perfect Jawline Featured in New Beauty

The trend of “razor-sharp jawlines” is on the rise, and we are here for ALL of it. In New Beauty’s recent article, The Right Angles, Dr. Devgan was interviewed on people’s increased interest in procedures for jawline sculpting. From filler to kybella to buccal fat pad excision, there are tons of options for people who are looking to add more definition to the jawline. This article discusses 3 different ways to achieve this look.

The first way to create a jawline contour is to “Shrink.” These options include  fat blasting tools like kybella, CoolSculpt, submental liposuction, and buccal fat pad excision. In this article, Dr. Devgan speaks on buccal fat pad excision, which is quickly becoming one of her most-asked-for procedures. While performing a buccal fat pad excision,  Dr. Devgan focuses on the small, highly detailed nuances of the face, which “Decreases the heaviness of the tissue that contributes to jowling” and “Debulksheaviness [that] can create a cleaner, leaner jawline contour.”

Another way to create jawline contour is to “Shape.” These options include botox in the masseters, dermal filler in the jawline, and adding chin implants for a more permanent solution. As Dr. Devgan’s signature facial optimization has become popularized, many patients want non-surgical and non-invasive options to contour the jawline using injectable filler.

If you are looking for a  more invasive and permanent solution to contour the jawline, you can “Elevate” with surgical procedures. Dr. Devgan’s favorite surgical procedure is a facelift, which is by far the gold standard for any laxity or drooping skin on the face and neck. By focusing on the unique structure of the face, facelifts help to create a defined jawline that accentuates that natural shape of the face. Whether you are looking for a surgical or non-surgical procedure, there are many options to create the perfect jawline.

Dr. Devgan Featured in Harper's Bazaar Article all about Cheek Filler

harpers-bazaar-vector-logo.png

Harper’s Bazaar featured Dr. Devgan discussing one of her most commonly performed and most asked for procedures--cheek filler. Dr Devgan says, “In the world of plastic surgeons, cheekbones are thought to represent 70% of  facial beauty.” In that case, who wouldn’t want to add a little volume to their natural cheekbone?

As Dr. Devgan states, “Cheek bones are really the heart of bone structure of the face.” By subtly optimizing your natural bone structure, fillers can help to achieve these results by lifting and contouring the cheekbones, creating a central shadow that gives a slim look, and accentuating the natural structure of the face. Every person has their own unique anatomy and goals, so each procedure is extremely customized. What’s the best part about cheek filler? It can be done in a matter of minutes.

Patients only need to numb for a few minutes, and the actual procedure takes between five and ten minutes. Not a bad deal considering filler can last anywhere between 1 and 2 years, depending on how quickly filler is metabolized. This is a perfect, non-invasive procedure for anyone who wants a little more definition in the cheek, and a little less makeup for contouring. Read the full article here
