Dr. Devgan is featured in a recent Glamour article, “11 Surgeons and Doctors on the Hand Creams They Swear By.”

“Surgeons are battlefield experts in hand care because, whether we want to be or not, frequent hand washing, dryness, chapped joints, and need for full function are real parts of our lives,” Dr. Devgan said. “I wash my hands hundreds of times a week—sometimes more than 50 times a day—so I’m always thinking about how to best take care of them.”

DR. DEVGAN'S PATIENT DISCUSSES HIS PROCEDURE IN POPSUGAR ARTICLE

In an essay published in POPSUGAR, a male patient of Dr. Devgan’s explains how getting a noninvasive chin augmentation has helped him with his self-esteem and his career.

The article was published in light of a RealSelf Aesthetics Interest Survey, which revealed that men are 36 percent more likely than women to seek plastic surgery to get ahead at work.

The patient, a 40-year-old finance professional, works at a private equity firm in New York City.

“In finance, appearances matter, especially in a place like New York, and we’re all trying to show ourselves from our best angles,” he said.

While considering getting work done on his chin and jawline, he “did a lot of homework on plastic surgeons and found Dr. Lara Devgan, who had a really good background and reviews online.”

He discovered that while Dr. Devgan sees many male patients, many of them keep their procedures secret.

“There are certainly cultural expectations about what is acceptable behavior for guys and what's not, but that might be changing: there seems to be a growing acceptance with men caring about grooming, skin care, health care, and fitness, so cosmetic surgery probably fits into all that,” he said.

Dr. Devgan’s patient likened his procedure to putting on a really nice suit, in the way that it boosted his confidence.

“I'm super happy with the result,” he said. “It's just the better version of how I looked before, which makes the procedure a home run, as far as I'm concerned. Now, in three years, when it wears out, I'm definitely going to go back and have it done again.”

DR. DEVGAN FEATURED IN BUSINESS INSIDER ARTICLE

REALSELF.jpeg

In a Business Insider article, Dr. Devgan shares her insight on a new survey about cosmetic procedures.

According to the survey, more than 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. are considering surgical or nonsurgical cosmetic treatment in the next 12 months.

“The rise of nonsurgical technologies and new treatment options have made aesthetics more accessible to a wider audience, and patients in their twenties and thirties are certainly helping fuel that trend,” Dr. Devgan said.

In fact, the survey revealed that adults under 45 are nearly twice as likely to consider cosmetic treatment as those 45 and older.

Dr. Devgan believes the younger generation is changing the way society views cosmetic procedures, as they are “more open to the idea that beauty is individualized and customizable, and that cosmetic interventions represent their personal choices about their own bodies for their own confidence.”

The survey, conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of RealSelf also assesses what specific procedures people consider, as well as the motivations and concerns behind pursuing these procedures.

Many of Dr. Devgan’s patients keep their procedures from their kids because “it’s tricky to reconcile those messages of ‘You’re perfect the way you are’ with ‘Mommy wants to change this little thing.’”

While the article considers the possible benefits of being more candid with your kids, Dr. Devgan says, “The idea that people may not like the way they look and that one’s appearance can be changed medically—that’s completely off the table in my family right now. No one wants to steer a child in to self-scrutiny.”
