American photographer and artist Angelo Merendino has published an absolutely heartstoppingly beautiful series of photographs about his wife Jennifer's breast cancer journey. In a series entitled "The Battle We Didn't Chose," Merendino chronicles the inspiring, painful, honest moments that occur after Jennifer is diagnosed with breast cancer at age 39, just 5 months after getting married. Tragically, Jennifer died from metastatic cancer at the young age of 40.
Breast cancer effects more than 1 in 8 American women, and Merendino's evocative black and white photos capture the emotion and uncertainty that often come with a cancer diagnosis.
